Winter Solstice

In honor of the First Day of Winter, I thought I would post something where I am dressing accordingly. Although we are back in eighty degree weather here in Texas (no joke!) I am reminded of cooler days earlier last month. I absolutely love weather which is pretty ironic that I live here in Texas, Houston, TX at that! There is something about getting all bundled up that makes me excited.

I try not to let the rain or colder temperatures keep me from two things: looking stylish and getting out of the house. Don’t get me wrong, I really love to snuggle up with a good book and spend the afternoon reading with yummy hot chocolate in hand, but I also love to make it a point to get out and get fresh air every single day.

It’s so easy to get caught up in a marathon of movie watching that you forget to take time on the weekends to be outside. There are so many health benefits for taking time to get a little of the outdoors. For today’s outfit I went for a sort of whimsical look. I love wearing rain boots with skirts and today was no different. I’ve really been into wearing softer colors like gray, cream and pink. I think it's fun to mix and match things like tulle and rain boots. I've also love mixing feminine and masculine or utilitarian and glamorous. The juxtaposition of opposites is striking. By the way, this coat is on major sale here.

As we finish out the end of the year I've been reflecting so much on where I was a year ago - or where this blog was a year ago. My goal this year was to really improve my content. Not to say that I didn't love to post before, but posting was more of an afterthought. I now take time to capture special moments and memories to share. Everyone has a story, and I love sharing mine with you guys. I'll be recapping next week the whole year, so stay tuned... It should be a pretty fun post! In the meantime, I hope that you have a very Happy Holiday over the Christmas break.
