It's funny - I rarely wear a lot of black, but lately my outfits depict something different. As Valentine's Day soon approaches, I thought I would share a few looks over the next two weeks for the upcoming occasion. Whether you are celebrating single, dating, married or even with your kiddos - the day is all about celebrating love. I think we put too much emphasis on the word love meaning romantic. Valentine's Day doesn't have to be just about celebrating a romantic relationship, but all relationships.
It's takes on a new perspective when you think about it that way, doesn't it? Well, if you are going out with your girls or on a romantic date a classic black dress is a great choice. Add a fun shoe and a pastel bag for color. I think this same dress would work with a pop of red on the shoe and simple clutch. Have a little fun with it all. This dress is one I bought from Urban Outfitters years back and remains a staple in my closet.
The front is fairly modest with a high neck and just a hint of sheerness up top. But the back is the real showstopper. It plunges into a nice V without being too low. I like wearing backless tops, but not ones that I'm afraid my bottom will show. This one hits the narrowest point of my back and sort of cinches in the waistline.
Floral pumps and a scalloped hem line add sweet touches for a sweet celebration. I love the pastel powder pink of this handbag with a tiny bow detail. You don't have to go over the top to look great for a night out. Just keep it simple and add touches of fun to your accessories. A classic black dress will remain a part of your closet for a long time if you find one that fits your body. I've found the fit and flare style really compliments my shape and is still pretty comfortable. I added several options at the bottom of this post for some sweet little black dresses if you want to check them out. They range from $25-$100...
