Holiday Posts to Inspire
The past two weeks I’ve been on a constant rotation of all things red. It started with our trip to Colorado where I pulled out a few of my favorite pieces for the season like this red coat that has been on repeat and this adorable bow embellished sweater. Then, once we returned home I decided to keep the holiday theme going! Red is such a classic and festive color for this time of year.
It’s party season and I’m here for it! I love the holidays and love getting dressed up for any occasion. This year I’ve been really gravitating to all things sparkly and figured it was time to shine bright. Recently Grace Karin sent me a few new pieces that I’m just dying to share with you guys like this pretty peplum lace top in today’s post. I paired it with a short sequin skirt and bow-embellished heels. I love the simplicity of this look and you can mix and match it with so many other items to give you multiple outfits.
Finally getting a few gift guides together for you guys! This year I’m sharing some of my favorite styles from Amazon! I’ve been working with a few sellers like Ekoauer and AvidLove to bring you comfort and luxury rolled into one! A few of my personal favorites include this cami and shorts set in red and this luxurious lace robe! These slippers are perfect for the glam person in your life. Finally, everyone needs a cozy bathrobe and this one will have you feeling extra snuggly. You can shop all my favorites below!
How many times have you thought to yourself… I really should have taken that trip? I’m in a phase of life where I am holding nothing back. I have no reason to anymore. In the past, I came up with reasons I couldn’t do something or go somewhere. Maybe it was the cost. Maybe it was asking for time off from my job and I didn’t think they couldn’t manage without me being there. Maybe it was because my ex-husband didn’t show interest or even complained about it. Maybe it was the fact that you have three kids and now you have no idea how to even begin to make that happen. When was the last time you did something that made you feel the most you?
Let’s talk about creating the life of your dreams. A few years ago I started pinning things on Pinterest for the life I wanted to create. I was at a low point and unhappy with the current state of my everyday affairs. If you’ve ever been through depression, you know exactly what I’m talking about. It was really hard during that time to feel excited about anything. Everything lost its luster and I felt like I couldn’t afford to do anything. I was pinching pennies on the daily and worrying about whether or not basic bills would be paid. During that period of time, I worked really hard to just make it through the day one hour at a time. I began during this period of my life to collect and save ideas of things I wanted in my life. One of those items was a pink Christmas tree.
I love getting into cozy clothes in the evenings and sitting around the glow of the tree. From working on a new painting to journaling being at home is even more fun when you have a comfortable environment. For years I went with mismatching pj’s or I wore my athleisure clothes to bed. Over the past few seasons, I make it a point to take a nice long shower or bath and slip into something comfortable and elegant to sleep in. I love a good pair of satin pajamas. I paired these lace embellished shorts with a cozy sweater and then added festive slippers. I plan on wearing the same slippers on Christmas morning. They are really comfortable and add a touch of glam. Gifting pajamas are also a favorite of mine!
I put together two looks wearing my new Sarah Flint Jay 100 Pumps. I love the tortoise heel and how it contrasts against the beautiful triple-dyed navy suede. I love the arch support! Usually, heels don’t have that kind of comfort but these can be worn all day or all night depending on the occasion. For the first outfit, I paired them with a silk camisole and silk skirt. A simple nude envelope clutch and gold earrings make for an elegant party or New Year’s Eve look. The second look includes a pleated navy floral dress. You can add a blazer or cardigan daytime and then switch to a scarf or a shawl for an evening look. The pumps are the perfect finishing touch for both looks. Use the code SARAHFLINT-BATHREEHEELCLICKS for $50 off your Sarah Flint order!
Over Thanksgiving break, I took a quick trip to Dallas for a few days. While I was there I made sure to stop by the Royal 38 Christmas pop up restaurant which is decked out in everything Christmas-related. I thought it would make a fun evening to merrily kick off the holiday season. When you walk in you are immediately greeted with a leg lamp like the one found in Christmas Story. The exterior is has a beautiful canopy of lights over the patio and each table is individually wrapped like a present. Even the cocktails carried the theme by being served in Santa mugs. If you are in the area and are looking for a fun spot, check them out. I recommend making reservations before going since it’s a pretty small venue. Also, the menu is done by scanning a QR code and ordering yourself so when you sit down you can immediately get things moving for your table. It was such a fun place to be for the evening and the food was incredible.
Getting dolled up for the holidays is probably one of my favorite activities during this season! There’s something about the swipe of a bold lip and adding a little sparkle to my accessories that put a serious pep in my step. Since the world decided to open back up finally, I plan on dressing to the nines from now until NYE! I’m wearing the most flattering retro dress with a navy and red floral print in these pictures. It comes in several other prints and I love how easy it is to steam out wrinkles. I just ordered a pack of the prettiest velvet headbands to make getting ready easy along with barrettes and bow-embellished jewelry. I also plan on sporting this tartan dress and pair of heels as much as possible over the next few weeks. Whether you are headed to an office party, cozy by the fire date or a family dinner I’ve rounded up a TON of items below for you to look as jolly and elegant as possible!
Although I am a lover of new trends and like to change my look up from time to time, I’ve built my wardrobe with classic pieces over time. I love a beautiful dress that can span from decade to decade or a coat that looks as fresh as it did ten years ago. I’ve started collecting jewelry pieces that I can pass down as heirlooms and if you were to look in my china cabinet you’d find an assortment of delicate tea cups that are reminiscent of another era. I’ve put together a list of items for anyone in your life that will last the course of time. Some of my favorite items include argyle printed socks, a silk scarf and classic Ray-Ban sunglasses. You really can’t go wrong with cable knit sweaters or a beautiful leather wallet. I also love these huggies for an affordable and quality piece of jewelry. I wear them almost daily and love them! See below for 30 timeless items for you to shop!
Gift guides are launching today! I am so excited to share these with you! With all of the stuff happening at the ports, I figured it would be best to publish these early so you can get goods while they are still in stock! I’ve rounded up my favorite items under $25 below for men, women, and kiddos. I’d love to get your feedback as you order things on what your favorite items are for gifts this year! Also, holiday beauty bundles dropped yesterday (see this post). Makes for the perfect stocking stuffer and has limited edition items!
“‘Tis the Damn Season…” says Taylor Swift. If there were ever a song line to relate to that would be the one for Holiday Season 2020. That’s exactly what I thought when Christmas started getting closer. It would be the first in four years that I wouldn’t have my kiddo with me. My heart hurt. However, I have a responsibility to myself and those around me to not sit in pain but instead find joy. Joy in all moments. I figured out this year that joy can come in so many forms if you are willing to seek it out. So I went searching for it instead of sitting home on my couch moping. (I’ve done my fair share of moping for one lifetime and don’t want to go back to being that way.) I wrote about what happens when you let go in your life earlier this week and I’m letting go of all of the fear, sadness and past pain so I have tons of room for peace and joy. If you are also at this crossroad where you are just tired of being sick and tired… then read on.
This morning launched a 24 hour sale bringing back several of the holiday beauty bundles I’ve been sharing with you all her on the blog and on social media. Some of my favorite simple beauty staples are on sale until tomorrow morning to include concealer, prime and set powder (brand new), liquid shadows (seen above), liquid matte lipsticks, skincare masks and so much more. You can shop the entire sale here!
Okay procrastinators! It’s T-minus two weeks until Christmas Day. The closer we get, the fewer the options you’ll have. This year I’ve crossed all but two off my list so far. However, there have been many years I couldn’t afford to do so until the very last minute. I figured an Amazon list was in order since this shopping mecca provides quick service delivery times and has basically anything and everything you will need.
Drumroll please…It’s finally here. Opulence lipsticks are back in stock after months and months of waiting. Not only are they back in stock but come in six glorious shades. From bold pink to soft matte rose there’s just nothing I mean nothing more glam that swiping on a bold shade of lipstick to tackle the day! They have lasting power that exceeded all of my expectations!
I spent this weekend nestled up reading books and baking delicious sugar cookies for the holidays. I love this time of year and try to fully immerse myself in as many festive activities as possible. Although this year is already looking different than last - no large holiday parties or gatherings, I’m determined to make it count. I’ve been adding little touches all over the home to bring a cheerful atmosphere no matter how cold it is outside. From sequin embellished pillows to colorful tiny bottle brush trees the space is filled from ceiling to floors in sweet holiday decor. You can have a beautiful home no matter what your budget may be if you are thoughtful and creative. Surprisingly many of the little trees I’ve picked up over the years were found at dollar stores or discount stores. Keep your eyes open and look at new ways to use items.
It occured to me as I was shooting these photographs last night in downtown Bryan with decorations everywhere that the holidays are not so much fun for everyone. I’m generally a cheerful person but I’m definitely not blind to other people struggling. Maybe you’ve lost a loved one during this time of year. Maybe you just are at a season that’s been really tough and you can’t seem to shake it yet. Maybe you are one of those people that had a terrible childhood and now the holidays floods back memories. Whatever it is - if you are feeling blue right now this post is definitely for you.
Every year my daughter and I decorate gingerbread houses. We’ve been doing this since she was five and it’s become a really fun tradition over the years. Most years we use a gingerbread kit. To date my favorite one came from Sprout’s which you can see in this previous post where we also mad our own wrapping paper for the season. This year I went ahead and braved doing one from scratch. Although it ended up being a little wompy the memories of making it will forever reside in my heart. Sometimes it’s not about being perfect it’s about the process.
I realized that most of my adulthood I’ve been in a relationship or marriage every year during the holidays. When that sunk in I immediately thought there are some of you guys who also are single this year and not sure what to do with yourself. Fear not! I’ve got some coping skills for you in today’s post. Being a single doesn’t have to be a downer. You can shop all of the sales and buy gifts for yourself without anyone complaining about the budget. You can decorate your house however you want - bring on all the pastel decor and mini Christmas trees. You also can take as much time for self-care and sleep as you need. Interested in learning a new hobby? Yes please! Now is the time! Being alone can be incredibly growing, positives and much needed after a period of hardship. Give yourself a break over the next few months, grab a cozy cup of hot chocolate and just snuggle up with a good book in front of your tree.
What would we do without Amazon? I’m beginning to wonder how any of us existed prior to their delivery services that cut shipping times by 90%. Amazon continues to innovate and impress me every single year. As I have tried hard to minimize contact and exposure by staying safe and being healthy, Amazon has become almost a necessity for me these days. From household items like these lightbulbs and neck massager to gifts that keep on giving like Audible - I’m a prime target (no pun intented … lol) and love being able to shop for gifts for my loved ones. Here is a complete guide to things I’ve recently purchased on Amazon, things I’m going to purchase, things I would purchase and pretty much everything I can think of!
Black Friday is HERE!!! I couldn’t be more excited. The sales this year are incredible and I cannot wait to pick up a few more things for my loved ones. I’ve rounded up several of my favorite items for her! If you missed my Gifts for Him post you can check it out here. On a side note a new eyeshadow palette was released this morning that is absolutely incredible! You can grab it with eye primer for 25% off. I also am loving accessories right now like these earrings, a new set of masks and of course mascara. What’s on your list? You can shop a few of my favorites below!
Isn’t there something magical about sitting down at a beautiful table? Each season I set our table with a different theme. You can scroll back to this post for a Autumn Inspired table for this week’s Thanksgiving preparations or this previous post where I show you how to come up with a theme! But tablescapes are a fun and easy way to add a little decor to your home. This year, we’ve been pulling out all of the soft green, white and pinks for our holiday decorations. I decided to carry the same color scheme I use all year round and just add a few touches that are winter themed to our living and dining room. Little bottle brush trees are scattered throughout the place (37 in total) and a few containers filled with ornaments add so much sweetness to the area this year. Since we are spending more time here than usual I decided to make the space feel warm and inviting.
Gifting a man can be a challenge. I’ve rounded up a few winners to give you ideas and inspiration. From the difficult to buy to the outdoors kind of guy here’s a bunch of options perfect for him. Most of the gifts are under $200 but I threw in a few luxury items and tech items for someone extra special. I highly recommend if you are in doubt gift socks, a belt or a wallet. Most guys do not regularly pick up these items and they are usually pretty worn by the end of the year. Also, since face masks are a necessity these days I’d recommend throwing those on the list as well.
I’m a fan of all things made for sweater weather. There’s something so cozy about slipping one on the first crisp cool day of the season. Sweaters are one of the perfect gift for all ages in all climates. You can wear one layered under a warm jacket in the Winter or throw on a cardigan over a tank top in the Summer. For cool nights they are nice to drape over the shoulders and there’s just nothing better than reaching for one at the beginning of Fall. I absolutely adore other things made of sweater knits like pants, dresses and even throw pillows around the home for the cozy months. Today I’ve rounded up sweaters for the entire family perfect to gift this season!
For today’s look, I wore a beautiful cobalt blue Amazon one-shoulder maxi dress which is a total steal. I comes in other colors but this one is on sale for $15. I love how it’s not a maternity dress, but has lots of stretch and room for the bump. I know I’ll be able to wear it at a later point in time. This would also be perfect for a winter wedding if you are attending any this season. I paired it with beautiful Kelly green mules (found an almost identical pair here on Amazon) and gorgeous Emerald green teardrop earrings. One way to make an outfit look upscale is to add a piece of dramatic statement jewelry.
