I thought today it would be nice to share a little about how I work DIY projects like this simple circle skirt into my wardrobe. Sewing can be such a creative release when you have the time and energy to devote to it. I really enjoy projects where I can wear them time and time again. A few keys to making DIY successful involve picking out good materials, fitting the garment properly and simple construction. Although I love to tackle challenges, I've found that my favorite projects and the ones I seem to wear time and time again are the simpler ones.
This skirt was a project I did about three years ago. It's a simple circle skirt and I made it using my favorite DIY blogger's tutorial (A Pair and A Spare). The skirt is made of simple cotton hounds tooth which never really goes out of style. The garment took less than an hour to make and I stitched it all by hand. Cotton is an easy to work with fabric. It doesn't slip when you are stitching or ironing. It also has a little more weight to it which makes it less likely that you'll have to make a lining for it. Just make sure you wash and iron before you get started so it doesn't pull.
