Houston Hotspots: Kemah Boardwalk
My daughter is a July baby and part of her celebrations included spending an evening at the Kemah Boardwalk. We are all about making memories in this house, and I find that taking kids to do things like picnics in the park, seeing a rose garden, spending an evening on the Boardwalk or just visiting Discovery Green for their seasonal activities is such a great way to create experiences that will forever be ingrained into their minds.
We started off by grabbing a slice of pizza at The Pizza Oven. They have a variety of adult and kid friendly pizza flavors. We split a small pizza and sat there watching them cook them in a brick oven. The restaurant has a great little patio if you can bare the heat where live music was playing. After we finished we headed over toSweet Scoops where I ate a scoop of Marscapone Cherry and she had a delicious scoop of rainbow sorbet.
We rode rides throughout the evening and caught a beautiful sunset while on the ferris wheel. It was fun to be out there in the evening where the sea breeze blew across our faces and through our hair. We could smell the salt in the water and it actually wasn't too hot! It was really nice to go at dusk where we could enjoy the rides without being over heated.
A simple sundress is my summer uniform. I have tons of them. This one was picked up at a vintage shop when I was in Missouri a few summers ago, but I've linked a few similar options here and here. I paired it with simple metallic sandals and a straw hat. The hat kept sun off my face until it went down and my hair under control.
I also a big fan of being handsfree when I'm at these sorts of establishments. I like to carry a bag big enough to store a water bottle, but nothing too bulky. A bucket bag is the perfect size! I love this one I found from BCBG, but here is another really adorable option.
