Summer Black and White
Dress: White House Black Market // Hat: San Diego Hat Company // Purse: Isabelle // Sunnies: Kenneth Lane // Ballet Flats: LC Lauren Conrad
We only have about a month left of summer and it's already starting to feel a little like Fall here in Houston. The past week has been full of rainy and cloudy days. As much as a like a rainy afternoon to read a book and take a nap with the sound of drops pattering on the roof, I do like sunshine! Summer reminds me of popsicles, beach towels, sundresses and long warm evenings. All of the seasons come with their own set of joys, and the sunny days of summer are some of my favorite times.
This summer has been really special for me. It's the first summer I've had in a long time that really gave me time to explore. I've been traveling more weekends than not over the past few months. It's been nice to take a break from the school year routine and gain new experiences. Being placed in new environments brings on new challenges.
As Summer begins to wind down, I am taking every opportunity to wear my sundresses and garden style hats before the cooler temperatures set in. This hat was worn more than any other over the past few months (here, here and here). I love how it has a simple black rim and adorable black bow. I found another one at a random shop when I was traveling a few weeks ago in pink! Keep your accessories pretty minimal if you decide to go with a hat so your outfit isn't over the top.
I also have worn these simple scalloped flats more times than I can remember at this point. I have them in a soft powder blue (last seen here and here) and they are so comfy. The have just the right amount of cushion and seem to work with everything. A basic pair of ballet flats are easy to wear when traveling and pack nicely without taking up much room. LC Lauren Conrad form Kohl's makes some of my favorites and they come in a variety of colors.
