One of the things I try to do is rework items I've had for a while in different ways. This jacket is one I've had for a decade and decided to layer it over a lace taupe dress (last seen in this post). I love the collarless neckline of the jacket. It made it really easy to add my grandma's vintage silk scarf. A scarf is a great way to add interest to an outfit. I've worn silk scarves in a variety of ways from tying it around my hair in a ponytail (see this post) to adding one onto my purse (see here).
Lately I've been trying a few things with my office wear. I really like the almost monochromatic look of these items combined. Creams and whites look great all year round especially moving into Winter. When you are doing a monochromatic look think about how to play with different textures. Here the lace dress is paired with a slightly metallic stiffer fabric jacket and silk scarf. Texture gives the look a lot more interest and a boutique like feel.
I also really like adding nude or beige shoes to lengthen legs. This pair has small studs on them and I've linked similar styles above for you. You can't really go wrong with a classic pump for work. The studs give them a little bit of an edge rather than a traditional pump. Finally, a simple cream handbag gives plenty of room to tote your laptop around or additional paperwork.
