Sweet Spring Picnic
As a work from home momma who also does distance learning with her kiddo, I have to tell you getting an afternoon to refill my cup is always appreciated! I love taking time to have a slower day on the weekends when my daughter visits other family. Lounging outdoors on a blanket with a picnic is seriously the best reward for a long week of hard work. Texas is just incredible during the Spring with perfect temperatures and wildflowers blooming all over the place. I couldn’t help but take advantage of the day by going to the park and reading a little Emerson for the afternoon.
Elevate the everyday and you’ll soon find simple activities like picnics make all the difference in your mindset for the rest of the week. I love simple. Although I enjoy spending time with those I love I also really enjoy having time to myself to reflect, journal and read. It helps me be a more intentional person in the activities I do with my fellow friends, coworkers and family. For this particular afternoon I ran to the grocery store and picked up a snack box and kombucha tea for a snack. Picnics don’t have to be fussy. Just grab a few items or even takeout and set up on blanket during golden hour. I snacked on strawberries and chocolate covered almonds with the gentle breeze blowing gently across my face.
Sometimes life gets so busy we all struggle taking time to enjoy those precious moments that bring us more energy. I find whenever I feel down and out or low in creativity it’s a sign I need to do something enjoyable. I begin with the basics - changing my environment, reading something positive, processing my thoughts and journaling. Then, I try to give myself extra care with pampering and rest. Oftentimes I go on long hikes or take a break like I did on this day to soak up sun at the park. By the end of the day or weekend I’m ready to get back into my routine.
