Being at Ease With Your Body

Summer is almost here and for many of us that’s the beginning of nightmare season. As we get older and our bodies shift, it can be hard to put the swimsuit on for the beginning of Spring and into the Summer months. Let’s be honest… most of us have the following somewhere on our bodies - cellulite, stretchmarks, unwanted flab or fat. The truth is…EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING ON THEIR BODY THEY DO NOT LIKE. Everyone. Including myself.

I recently shared in a previous blog post about how one of my biggest role models in life was very critical of my natural body shape when I was younger. You can read more about it here, but body shaming is a real thing! The truth is, you are a physical manifestation of what’s happening mentally and physically. You are a beautiful creature. If you are currently unhappy with your physical health, you can change it. Baby step your way to a healthy mind, body, and soul.

The one thing I’ve learned about health is that it requires you to accept exactly where you are and appreciate everything you have. Your body can breathe. If you are breathing, then you have something to work with. Start with gratitude for the breath. Then, gratitude for the body you have. Then, gratitude for the fact that you chose to come to Earth and be a part of this crazy circus. And believe me… it’s a circus when you really zoom out.

Once you have gratitude, then experience joy. Joy from being alive. Put on the swimsuit and then jump in the water. Giggle and move your body as you enjoy the sun on your face. Stop being so concerned with being perfect and just live. You deserve happiness. You deserve joy. You deserve to have a life filled with positivity.
