Loafer Love
Sweater: Old // Purse: Coach // Button Up: Old Navy // Loafers: Coach // Sunnies: Circus by Sam Edelman // Skirt: American Apparel
Lately I've posted a variety of different dressy looks and wanted to tone it down for the weekend. This is my idea of a "casual Friday" or weekend outfit. It finally stped raining in Houston, and I decided it was time to pull out this skirt from hiding (last seen here). One of my favorite neutrals is the color camel and it plays nicely with blue. This outfit is an example of some of the older items in my closet - the purse was bought on a trip to Hawaii, the shirt I've had for a few years now and same with the skirt.
Sometimes it's accessories and how you put things together that makes an outfit seem new. As much as we all love the fresh feeling from a new item, I prefer to add things that I know I will wear for years. Last year I did a segment on Fast Forward Friday - where I took an item worn in an older post and updated it (see all of them here).
I've really been into a more preppy look lately. Although I love the comfy boho look, in the deepness of my hear "prep" will always feel natural. From a young age I was drawn to polo shirts, docksiders and an affinity for argyle. As I've grown older and really refined my style, I still like to throw pieces of prep into what I wear. Today is a good example - a casual sweater thrown over the shoulders, a shirt that buttons up and loafers.
Classic loafers are an item you just can't go wrong with. I picked up a cheap pair of tassel ones last year and wore them until they practically fell apart. I decided to up my game and invest in ones that would last a little longer. This color leather really works well with all neutrals - white, navy, and even black. So, I knew the investment would be worth it. Since I walk so much, something with enough padding was worth a few extra dollars.
