Bee Weaver Farm
This weekend was one of those magical moments I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Just filled with the best weather, activities, rest and joy. I believe in perfect timing in life. There is a time for everything. Sometimes we have periods of rough roads while other times are smooth sailing. This weekend was smooth sailing. A few years ago I noticed on my drives from Houston to College Station there was a little farm right outside of Navasota, TX. Usually I was traveling for overnight trips and had my dog with me so I never made the stop. Now that I live in College Station I decided to take a day trip out to the Honey Farm and check it out.
The farm is owned by the Weaver family and has been a part of the family for over 150 years. In 2016 they remodeled the old honey packing building from the 1930’s. The interior is a sight in itself with beautiful wood inlayed floors and gorgeous honey comb inspired shelving. Inside you can find a variety of honey inspired goods from linens to hand cream (which I made sure to grab a bottle of). You can also taste a variety of types of honey and purchase local honey. Did you know if you suffer from allergies you can take a teaspoon everyday to help with easing symptoms?
After you leave the giftshop you can go on a guided tour on Fridays and they have events as well. You can chill on the porch and view how they harvest honey. The whole process is on their website and it’s fascinating. This is an excellent outing for the whole family or if you’d like to get out of the city alone perfect to visit solo.
Shop the Look
Spending time outdoors in the fall is one of the best times to enjoy nature here in Texas. It’s hot a lot of the year so when we get a cool weekend you better believe I take full advantage of it. Today I pulled out my favorite pair of overalls with a simple cotton plaid button up top. I love how relaxed this look is and it’s practical for time in the country. Being in Texas, cowboy boots are a regular choice of footwear and love this vintage pair I found when I was at the Ft. Worth Stockyards a few years ago. I grabbed a two toned straw bag to tote goodies home in similar tones to my boots.
On a final note, taking time to get away from the city and even surburban life really does the soul good. As I spent time walking around the property I listened to the little sounds of the breeze blowing across the leaves on golden trees. I also took time to look at how bees around the property and were landing on the yellow flowers that were native to the area. Bees will collect pollen from surrounding counties to make the honey I purchased for my evening tea. Little moments like this make me so grateful to walk this earth.
