Basic Black Staples
I’ll be the first to tell you that I’ve never been drawn to the shades of black in my wardrobe… that is until now. Usually, you’ll find me in every single color under the sun but when it comes to basic black I’ve steered away. Lately, the opposite has been true. Maybe it’s because I am in my late 30’s (weird to say at 36). Maybe it’s just finally grown on me after all of these years. Maybe I’m just itching for another trip to Europe and pre-planning a classic capsule wardrobe (I happened to wear a lot of black the last time I went so I would mesh in Paris).
Black has a few perks - like no one notices when you spill coffee. It basically is always in style and hides sweat. All a win in my book. Below I’ve rounded up my recent additions to include this beautiful blouse with a tiny necktie which I grabbed in cherry red as well. I also loaded up on sweatpants, tank tops and a few tops for work too! You can’t go wrong with a skinny pair of pants or sunnies. I think the key to keeping black interesting is wearing shapes that fit as if they were tailored. Make sure to accentuate your best features like a cinched waist or if you have incredible legs go ahead and shorten your hemline. As for other black items grab a good work bag and pumps for meetings now that the world has opened back up. Finally, you can take it all the way to your nails if you choose to like I did with my nail art.
