Weekend Getaway: What I’m Packing

The past 6 months I have traveled every few weeks somewhere for the weekend. Work, events, and campaigns have taken me all over the place. When you are in a constant travel mode you get accustomed to having some sort of system to pack or you won’t know your right from your left hand. I’ve curated a list of must-haves for most of my trips regardless of the climate. I recommend always bringing something for warm weather (places heat up) and something for cold weather (cold fronts happen). I’ve written a bunch of posts over the years on packing here but today I’m going to focus on classic items you can bring for your next weekend getaway.
The outfit I’m wearing here is a good foundation for a capsule wardrobe. The black bodysuit can be paired with a skirt or dress pants. A black belted coat is classic and can be casual or dressy. A pair of straight-leg jeans can be dressed up or down and the tan western boots work for most occasions. The key to packing efficiently is to bring pieces that can get two outfits out of them! That way you wear a piece multiple times and still feel fresh. Although I have a very colorful wardrobe, I find it’s best to pack in a simple color scheme and incorporate lots of neutrals.
A few other things I bring on most trips if I’m driving includes a mini Nespresso machine. Yep, you may think I’m boujee but all it takes is having a fantastic cup of coffee first thing in your room and you’ll see why I bring mine everywhere. A lot of the time I’m shooting a ton of content while still working full-time and being able to grab a quick cup in the afternoon helps save time, money and is just more efficient. I also mix mine with almond milk and bring Truvia to sweeten. Another thing I bring since I travel with my pup a lot is containers of wet dog food. She eats it instantly and doesn’t go on a hunger strike or knock her food bowl over. It also helps her stay hydrated.
Lastly, make sure you pack a good assortment of toiletries. If you have room, bring your full skincare regimen. I separate EVERYTHING in smaller containers, that way if I leave a face mask behind I’m not out of $50. I love getting into a really comfy pair of pj’s and wearing an overnight hydration mask when I’m away from home. Helps keep my skin healthy as I change environments. Socks, a swimsuit and at least one dress are taken with me everywhere. Having to do last-minute shopping when you travel can be cumbersome so do yourself a favor and pack those things.
