I remember when I first got sober how left out I felt at most social situations. My body had been through a lot and my vitality was at an all time low. My skin was dull. My limbs felt broken down and heavy. My inner light did not feel like it was shining bright.
I literally felt the opposite of sexy. I was nervous to ever date again wondering how I would make it through a date without a glass of wine (or bottle) to “take the edge off.”
Deep down I was struggling with feelings of unworthiness and inadequacy.
They were so deep! It was a result of so much that happened throughout my life and needed to heal parts of my heart that had been damaged for years…I made a commitment to myself that I would figure it out. I would stop at nothing to get my vitality back!
For the next four and a half years I would do the following:
- Set boundaries
- Eat a mostly plant-based diet
- Practice yoga
- Meditation and prayer
- Connect with my higher power (aka Jesus)
- Build a support community
- Foster healthy friendships and connections
The results speak for themselves. I am now a few weeks away from turning 38 and in the best shape of my life. More importantly, I feel vitality surge through my veins each day.
