Don't Forget to Shine

I’ve been on a conquest to get to the root of my being. For the past few months, I took time throughout each day for inward reflection… Constantly asking myself if what I am currently doing is what will lead me to the highest version of myself. I examined forward and backward each small habit, every conversation I would partake in, and each movement I would choose to make. We are a sum of all the little choices we make throughout the day. Our character is a combination of actions we choose. After years of feeling obligated to do certain things, have certain jobs, and run what you would consider the rat race I decided I couldn’t do it anymore. My soul just needed more.

I needed to slow down. I needed to put back in the good things that not only bring me joy but condition my life to exist as God put me here. Life is not about the money you make. Life is not about how many times you show up to church or if you are the best on the PTA board for your kid’s school. Life isn’t about the things that consume most of your day like what you need to buy at the grocery store or which TV show you need to watch or missed. Life is about being able to show up and shine bright so you can light up others.

If church is the thing that helps you shine bright and help others shine… go more. Keep showing up. If spreading joy to the other parents on the PTA board is where you shine… by all means shine bright! Keep going and leading. If going to the grocery store brings you immense joy as you select the wonderful things you will feed your body over the next few days, go as often as you like. The point is to do the things that bring you joy in a way that feeds your soul to shine. If you feel like you are stuck in the dark… move to the light. Find one activity you can do every day that makes you feel the most you. Then, rinse and repeat. Add more of those things that make you feel you and remove the things that make you feel dark.

Keep going until all that’s left is your light to pass to others.
