Escape to Davy Crockett National Forest

Boots: Hunter // Sweater: Target // Jacket: Old Navy (old, but similar) // Scarf: Amazon // Pants: Amazon Lipstick: Younique in Wealthy // Grey Jacket: Wal-Mart

This past year I’ve made it a goal to visit as many National and State Parks as possible. They house some of the most beautiful scenery! This season alone I visited Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, Padre Island National Sea Shore, Hot Springs National Forest, and Davy Crockett National Forest. It’s so refreshing to get away from most people and wander the trails of nature. I’ve been able to experience things you just don’t get in the city around people. From driving 50 miles off-road to getting lost in the Fall foliage National Parks are the way to go!

Although I have appropriate hiking gear, when I want to take a long walk a lot of the time I grab my Hunter boots. They are worth every penny. I cannot tell you how many different occasions they’ve been worn! They have a molded insole that allows you to walk for a good amount of time in them without being uncomfortable. I paired them with thick socks and red yoga pants to give my very short legs a little longer. This plaid jacket is one I’ve had a while too and seem to pull it out this time of year. You really can’t go wrong with a plaid scarf or buffalo check jacket. Layering underneath a big cozy sweater and then adding a gray puffer with it is a second option for a day outside.

As far as the campsite and trail go, there is so much to do here! There’s camping you can reserve with a pretty easy in/out if you have an RV. You also can do tent camping if you prefer. There are larger cabins with plenty of room to bring a group. Finally, the trails go for an extensive amount of miles. It’s a great place to train if you are backpacking or just spend exploring. Make sure you bring plenty of water especially during the summertime. Also, there are snakes. I even ran into one (which is an experience I’d prefer not to have). Luckily, it wasn’t aggressive but be alert if you are doing a hike. You can go pretty off the grid which has its pros and cons. There’s a gorgeous lake with campsites along with it! I spent the daytime there exploring and admiring the gorgeous leave changing. It’s a beautiful location for a weekend away in the late Fall and early Winter.
