Weekend Guide to Port Aransas and Corpus Christi

Location: Port Aransas and Corpus Christi, TX

If you are looking for your next Texas vacation then you need to check out Port Aransas! Nestled on the Texas Gulf Coast between Galveston and N Padre Island is the charming island and beach town called Port Aransas. Filled with pastel shops, stores, and restaurants this makes the perfect family vacation! I spent a couple of days here and put together a weekend guide for you guys! From Instagram spots to a restaurant that has presidential history, here is a guide to spending the weekend in Port Aransas and the neighboring city Corpus Christi.

(In above pic - I’m wearing the cutest Hill House Home Paz top, Madewell jeans, classic ballet flats and an adorable white satchel by Tory Burch. I added a little cardigan I found on Amazon for under $25.)

Start your weekend with a walk or picnic on the beach for a late afternoon or early evening sunset. Follow the beautiful scenery over to the Phoenix Restaurant and Bar where you can grab views of the marina. They have a sushi chef onsite with a variety of other classic dishes you can order. I opted for my favorite the Shaggy Dog roll and then followed with their classic coconut creme pie. Although I don’t drink alcohol, they do have a full bar and wine list. I ordered a virgin Moscow mule! Great place to grab dinner on a date or special occasion. I recommend making reservations since there is limited seating.

Roosevelt’s Fine Dining Restaurant at the Tarpon Inn was recommended a few times to me. FDR would come down the area to fish. Although he couldn’t stay at this particular inn due to it not being able to accommodate his wheelchair at the time, the inn has a tarpon scale he signed when he caught it! The restaurant was incredible with live music and a lovely atmosphere. All wood beam floors, walls, and ceilings. I asked to be tucked away in a corner so I could enjoy a quiet dinner.

For dinner, I wore my mom’s vintage sweater dress from the late 80s and early 90s with a pair of black pumps, a headband, and adorable bow earrings (under $10).

One of the coolest spots on the island is the Chapel in the Dunes. It’s a small chapel with a ton of history! You can view it at any time, but if you are looking to go inside I recommend checking out their website for more information. It’s a tiny chapel on a hill in the historic district. Literally, the best Instagram spot on the whole island!

Island Joe’s Coffee has the cutest decor. You can visit it on the south end of the island. I went for a nice long walk on one of the beaches over there and found a ton of gorgeous sunflowers (see pictures below). At the coffee shop, I grabbed a delicious order of cucumber toast and a non-dairy sugar-free vanilla latte. That’s my go-to order for almost every coffee shop! So simple and they usually get it right!

Speaking of beaches, if you head the northern side of the island you will find this Port Aransas Beach! It has so many picnic tables! There’s also a fishing pier located nearby. Probably one of my favorite parts of the island and perfect for a sunrise! It is an area you have to be aware of swimming at your own risk I wore this adorable dress from Amazon (seen in this post), my favorite plush coat, and western suede boots.

On my way home a local recommended I stop by Bien Merite in Corpus Christi. I give it a 10/10. They have the cutest chic decor, delicious and healthy options, and incredible service. I actually ordered on the way and ate once I arrived. I got the gluten-free blueberry English muffin drizzled with honey and petit fours. Plus, of course, coffee. They have a beauty latte with a shot of collagen in it! Sign me up! For those of you who follow along in stories on Facebook and Instagram, you know I love collagen!
