Snow and Ski Style in Colorado

Shirt: Aerie // Scarf, Gloves and Hat: Target // Boots: Kamik (love these so much! Made to handle up to -40 degrees) // Coat: Old (Cotton On - similar here) // Socks: Target // Pants: Amazon

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado

Over New Year’s Eve, I took a quick weekend trip to Colorado Springs, CO. It was beautiful and right before a huge snowstorm. I’ll be sharing more about that experience in an upcoming post! Although the city itself was not snow-covered until the end of my trip, I did go up into the mountains and needed the right gear to withstand the slopes. Whether you are a ski fanatic looking for a few updates to your winter wardrobe, a snow bunny who just loves the scenery and a good hot tub, or maybe you are looking to just keep warm - here’s a guide to dressing warm and layering snow and ski style!

Layering Is The Key to Warmth

I’m no stranger to snow and cold weather. Although I currently live in Texas I grew up around snow in a few cities we lived in. I found the key is to layer! I’m wearing an oversized pullover and thermal long sleeve tee underneath my puffy jacket. I actually have on two pairs of leggings which work great under ski pants. Wool ski socks that are extra thick help keep my feet warm inside my boots. To top things off, I always have a Scarf, Gloves and Hat on. If I’m playing in the snow the gloves need to be waterproof. If you want more tips for staying warm check out my post from last year where I show you how to bundle up for the cold when you live in the south!

Keep Your Feet Warm and Dry

I am one of those people who usually have cold hands and feet. I’ve always been that way so I am a sucker for a good pair of boots. Although my Hunter boots have a special place in my heart for all types of weather, I wanted a new pair of ski boots. I looked at grabbing a pair of Sorel’s but struggled to find my size in stock at the time. I saw these snow boots from Kamik are made to handle temperatures up to -40F and are waterproof. I love the white and gray style with faux fur trip so much! Goes with almost everything I own. If you wear a lot of pastel colors then you definitely need these! I also recommend wearing wool socks over wearing any other material. They will keep your feet warm and the driest possible. I bought these pairs on Amazon!

The whole trip was just amazing. I spent time on Pike Peak’s Summit, had a lovely dinner at Clifthouse Restaurant and coffee at Frankly Coffee before heading up to Manitou Springs. Colorado Springs is gorgeous and during the latter part of my weekend, we received a huge snowfall before leaving the city to head back to work. It was seriously one of the best New Year’s I’ve ever had. What are your favorite spots to travel to for Winter? I’d love recommendations as I plan out the rest of this year!
