Dress: La Maison Talulah (love this similar one) // Sneakers: Converse // Ring: Old Forever 21 (similar) // Purse: House of Want // Headband: Amazon // Necklace: Park Lane Jewelry
Did you know that the most popular post I’ve done in 10 years was how to wear converse sneakers if you’re petite! Month after month that single post gets more views than any other piece of content. I figured it was long overdue to share a follow-up to that post with how to wear converse sneakers with a dress. Because… spring is coming! Today I’m going to give tips for anybody's height or shape! These are pretty universal and perfect for getting organized for Spring Break this year. Here are a few ways tips for how to wear converse sneakers with a dress.
Pick Your Signature Color
I think the easiest way to try something trendy is to stick to a color palette that you love! I’m a light pink and floral kind of girl so it only makes sense I reached for those shades when I was building this outfit. It also makes sense I purchased a pair of converse sneakers in that family of hues. This rule goes with any style or trend. When in doubt, start with what you absolutely love! Colors have a huge impact psychologically and the colors you wear on your clothes are no different. If you love bold hues like red, yellow, or bright green go for it! If you prefer muted earth tones, that’s cool, too. I happen to love pastels! You do you in the best way possible! If it’s a color you love, you’re more like to wear it more often!
Choose a flared skirt
It does not matter the length but you will want a little flare in your skirt shape! A fit and flare skater style works really nicely with Converse sneakers. T-shirt or jersey shirt dresses are very flattering and the flared shape lets you easily move and sit more comfortably. No one wants to feel uptight while also wearing sneakers. Try on a few styles and patterns until you love the fit.
No Socks or No Show Socks
I find this style elongates the leg when you do not wear socks. Since I’m about 5’0 I find high tops make my legs appear shorter. Instead, by opting for a light shade of Converse sneakers and no socks I’m revealing the narrowest part of my leg which is the ankle. This works really great for Petites! You can also opt for a shorter hemline to create a longer leg as I did. Do what makes you feel comfortable though! If it’s super short, make sure you can sit without squirming.
Accessorize
Don’t forget to add a few touches like a casual crossbody - love this one from Shop Bop and a bold statement ring I’ve had for forever. I also added a simple headband (which I have in a ton of colors). Easy, effortless, and still chic. What’s your favorite way to wear your Converse sneakers?
