30 Days of Outfits: Day 4

I am wearing this really soft flannel buffalo plaid dress from Amazon. I recently shared it on Instagram here with a pair of Hunter Rain Boots, but for today’s look I dressed it up. This is adorable for an office outfit or a holiday party look. I’ve had this black baguette with gold chain hardware on repeat for the past few weeks. Classic black pumps will never do you wrong! Gold jewelry and sunglasses add a classy touch and a bit of glam.

Since we all finally made it to Spring, I am pulling out all the best florals! I love the landscape this time of year in Texas with all of the wildflowers and infamous Bluebonnets are in bloom. I usually transfer that inspiration over into my wardrobe. From statement earrings in the shape of flowers to embellished handbags, you can add a touch of florals without being overkill. The dress I featured below is Hunter Bell NYC. It’s made of the thinnest (without being see-through) material that is perfect for layering this time of year. I actually wore this to a women’s luncheon and received a ton of compliments on it. I grabbed this old clutch I love and my favorite classic Sarah Flint pumps (save $50 here)! Cozy Rose and Mocha Outfit

Oh my goodness what a great weekend! Felt like the first weekend in a long time that my daughter and I had the chance to just kick back and spend time home together. On Saturday, I got dolled up and took us out to brunch at 1 pm at The Cookshack which opened recently in College Station. Somewhat limited menu, revolving around chicken and waffles, cute modern atmosphere, and huge portions. You could easily split a portion if you eat on the lighter side. We both got the chicken and waffles and picked our sides out accordingly. I recommend stopping by one of these if you live near one! I wore the cutest pink and mocha ensemble. I paired this roomy baby doll tunic top with a rose-colored coat. I love the combo of rose pink and mocha brown. They compliment one another so much! I paired it with an oversized envelope clutch, over-the-knee boots, and vegan leather pants. I have to say, this pair of leggings has gotten a lot of use this season. The Perfect Black Shirt Dress from Amazon

After years of searching for a classic black shirt dress leave it to Amazon the Drop for creating what I consider the perfect one! I recently ordered this beautiful piece and put it on as soon as it came in. I recommend sizing down one size if you want it to be more fitted like I am sharing in these photographs. The dress is under $60 and comes in three colors. It took everything in me not to order a second one as soon as this one arrived. The fabric is made of lightweight but good quality cotton that’s breathable. It has a pretty cutout in the back and can be worn without a belt. The cutout has an elastic waist so it conforms to your body. I have more of an hourglass shape so a lot of shirt dresses gape at the chest and are baggy around the waist. Not this one! It fits just right in all the necessary areas.

Casual and Classic Western Look

After a really long week and working from home, I threw on an outfit to head out on Friday early evening. We’ve been under a Winter Storm watch all week so I knew I’d have to get home pretty early but a few hours out was better than being cooped up all weekend. I decided to throw on one of my cozy sweaters. This baby is a steal! I’ve worn it recently with this silky skirt in this post for a dressier look. I paired it with my favorite vintage low-cut western boots from Feather’s Boutique in Austin, TX. I’ve been going there for over 15 years and always come out with something in hand. They have an online shop with a curated selection but if you are in the area I recommend stopping by! It’s incredible. You can grab a bite to eat afterward at Guero’s - another favorite of mine! A few months ago I ordered this top-rated pink suede hat on Amazon. It came packaged with a hat mold for storage and is really good quality. These Levi jeans were another buy on Amazon. They are the perfect fit for someone who is looking for a straight leg cut with a defined waist. Hope you guys are having an awesome Sunday!

All the Necessities to Treat Yourself This Valentine's Day

I cannot think of a better way of treating yourself this year than buying yourself a few things you may have been eyeing! After being a mom who struggled for YEARS giving herself time, energy and self-care I now make it one of the biggest priorities. I listen to my body and feel more than I ever have so I can make sure I take better care of myself. That includes getting myself little treats. Each year for my birthday I like to pick out a new handbag. When I am out Christmas shopping for others, I see no problem in grabbing something for myself, too. If you feel guilty every time you go to grab something that’s just for you or feel like it’s selfish - I’m here to tell you it’s not! You can help others, love on others, give to others and give to yourself. I wrote a post for all the Single Ladies on Valentine’s Day a few years ago and packed with self-care tips! I was actually in a relationship at the time but remembered what the year prior was like when I was single. It’s okay to take solo trips, buy a ridiculous thing for yourself or just spend some time alone. Remember, you have to live with yourself longer than anyone else so make sure to take care of yourself! Here are a few things I’ve personally treated myself to these past few months!

The Perfect Pink Slip Skirt from Target

Slip skirts are in my opinion an undervalued item. Most people don’t own one and they are such a versatile piece. You can wear with tights, a sweater, and boots for the Winter and then in Spring/Summer pair with a blouse, shell or even a cami and flat sandals. The key is to find a skirt that skims the body’s shape without being too tight. I picked this one up (on clearance now!) before Christmas at Target in-store. It came in both a deep teal and this rosy shade of pink. I love the way it pairs with brown like this plush coat from Amazon the Drop and a pair of leopard ballet flats. Just adorable! Picking Out New Shoes at the Sarah Flint Dallas Pop - Up Store

A few weeks ago I made a short trip to Dallas where I visited the Sarah Flint store. My daughter and I were having a girl’s weekend and decided while we were there to see the beautiful decor at the Sarah Flint pop-up shop! I was so impressed when I arrived. It felt like I was stepping into Sarah’s living room. In fact, the decor was inspired by her own home! We were quickly greeted by the sweetest associate who offered us fresh chocolate chip cookies and tea. The recipe was from Sarah’s grandmother! I love to shop but this was a completely different experience in all the good ways! We took a stroll around the store and admired the beautiful floral wallpaper, soft seating to try on your shoes, and the classic gold shelving that displayed all of the Sarah Flint accessories like scarves and barrettes. No stone was left unturned in the store!

Winter and Spring Amazon Finds Under $100

A few items I wear year-round include a trenchcoat, swing dress, good pair of flats, and sunglasses. My coat is actually from Everlane (also available for purchase on Amazon - here’s an under $100 version), and my flats were under $100 as well. Most days you’ll find me in a pair of aviators or Ray-Ban sunglasses but I keep a few inexpensive pairs within reach in my car as backup. A simple swing dress is great this time of year. You can swap the trench coat out for a warmer one on a cold day and a pair of boots with the dress above. Another option is to layer tights and loafers on chilly mornings with this look. When you get home, it can double as loungewear since it’s so comfortable and easy to move around in. I’ve fallen asleep many evenings in this same dress!

Cozy Vibes In Amarillo

I’ll be honest. I’ve been in mostly knits for the past 10 days. Ever since I made it back from my trip to Colorado, I’ve been a complete hermit. Yep, snuggled up on the couch with my dog and journal morning and night. It’s been incredible and much-needed. I’ve been working all year so far out of my house. Each evening doing little projects around the house and during the daytime working with clients. My uniform looks the equivalent of what I wore when I was in Amarillo which includes this incredible sweater that is the softest material ever and these snuggly pants. If there is one outfit you need in your life right now it’s this one. I’ve been wearing several pairs of sweater pants like these joggers, this pair of wide-legged and I’ve featured these several times on the blog over the years. They are a great alternative to sweat pants and you can lounge, walk or run errands in them.
