The Perfect Black Summer Dress

Summer is in full swing around here with sunset walks, day trips to swimming holes, and a relaxed approach to bedtime. Being a Leo, summer is my jam. I love the long days and the warm air hitting my face in the evenings as the sun drops below the horizon. I love all the sandals, bare feet, sundresses, and straw bags that come along with them. When I saw this dress on the hanger at the store, I knew I found a classic affordable piece I could wear all summer long. Here are a few tips on how to style it!
Add a belt to give the dress a fitted look. I ordered this one on Amazon and it’s not only comfortable but sleek and modern. I wore it with the buckle in the back to create a corset/bodice look. I added a few gold accessories like a medallion necklace and hoop earrings. Since I shot these outdoors at a local park, I chose a pair of wedges instead of a traditional heel. Instead of opting for a large bag, I grabbed a small straw clutch. This is another summer go-to favorite. Something just big enough to store lipstick, my cell, and my wallet. The texture of the straw bag and wedges dress down the dress and make it suitable for day or date night.
Something else to take into consideration when you are creating an outfit is how you will style your hair and makeup. You will often see me in a sleek bob, but on days I want a more romantic feel I use a curling wand to create these soft waves. I set everything with a solid mousse to fight Texas's soaring temperatures and high humidity. For makeup, I kept it light with this incredible serum + foundation and BB Cream then applied 4D mascara and my favorite neutral lipstick in soft pink. The ruffle on the dress has a romantic feel so I wanted to emulate that in the rest of the look. All of the products I use for both hair and makeup are clean and non-toxic made from high-quality ingredients. I have incredibly sensitive skin so I’m pretty picky.
