It’s been a place full of growth and discovery. A home filled with peace and love. I believe we are products of our environment and I sought to create a place for Skyler and myself to flourish in! From Covid to working from home to homeschool This is where all the magic happened that created the life we have now I will be forever grateful for these memories and the life we created one day at a time. The apartment is three beds and two full baths with high ceilings and beautiful granite and stone textiles. I love how much light is throughout the day! Although the space evolved over this past year, I tried to carry the same look and feel throughout the space - whimsical, chic, and feminine.

When I first moved in I had a lack of furniture for this space. I ended up purchasing during my time here new beds for both my daughter’s room and my room, a sectional, futon, and many bookcases. I moved in with just a few things but the month I added pieces until it looked and felt right. Most of my decor is very affordable. I collected items from Amazon, Wal-mart, At Home, and Target. I looked for steals and deals that fit within my budget. When I first moved in we slept on air mattresses until I could get new mattresses and frames purchased. Looking back I cannot believe how much progression happened over the year. This is a prime example of thinking something into existence.

When I moved in I was working completely from home and knew having a third bedroom for an office and guest room was vital for my mental health. Being able to shut the door in the evenings to my office made it easier to create a boundary between work and home life. One of the biggest struggles for working from home is having boundaries and downtime. I made sure to be “off work” when I was done with my day. In that same room, there is an extra door leading to the bathroom. Because the hallway also has a door to the bathroom I decided to put up curtains and a tension rod as a backdrop for the guest bed. It created a beautiful little reading nook for late afternoon or weekend reading. My daughter had distance learning all year long and would come to hang out doing her school work here throughout the year. Such fond memories of this room!

My bedroom evolved almost seasonally. I mentioned it before but when I moved in I was sleeping on an air mattress. After I bought my bed I wasn’t sure what to do with the room so I moved the bed around until I found a place I really liked. Don’t be afraid to try a new arrangement if you don’t feel like the current one works. One thing to note - I do not have a TV in my room. I found it was best for my sleeping habits to keep a TV in the living room and transitioned to my bedroom at night for light reading and journaling before falling asleep. It helped so much with creating better sleeping habits.

If you can dream it, you can do it. If you don’t love your current home, that’s okay - make a Pinterest board and start collecting ideas for colors, styles, and rooms that you connect with. From there, start with necessities and make a list of what you want to change the most. If it’s something you use every day consider buying something you really love! Life is too short to live in a miserable environment.
