Athleisure is trending right now and it’s not just reserved for the gym or yoga studio. I love being athletic and getting a good workout in, but I also love looking put together whether I’m at the gym, home or out running errands. On days I do not have meetings or photo shoots you will find me more often than not in athleisure. I love mixing and matching yoga gear with cotton tops, hoodies and casual accessories like baseball caps or totes to take an outfit from workout to street worthy. Today I’ve put together three looks where I’m wearing workout clothes out in public.

Outfit #1

The first look I wore last week to dinner and then to a hotel before we flew out to Birmingham, Alabama. I wore a pair of simple black slim fitting joggers, a loose black cotton tank, a pink hoodie and grey sneakers. This look can easily work if you are doing a lot of travel or walking for the day. Chances are you already have black leggings or joggers, a tank and a colorful hoodie or zip up! Just throw it all together and swipe a little nude lipstick and add mascara to take this look out for a spin.

For the second look I wore a pair of cropped yoga pants with a light pink ruffle top for a quick coffee run. I added a pair of blush sneakers and a structured bag to go from the mat to the real world. Finally, I added a pop of color with a sunflower yellow sports bra. Remember, the rule of three colors. You can mix and match outfits by sticking to three colors. Here I used teal, pale pink and yellow but you can accomplished this look using any three colors.

For the third look I am wearing a monochromatic outfit complete with maroon leggings, a sports bra and long sleeve cotton tee. I added a blush hat and blush colored sneakers. Since I wore this look to pick up groceries I brought along one of my favorite bags from Longchamp that’s perfect for toting things home.

The Drink That Keeps Me Going on Long Hikes

Wow! I cannot believe it’s been almost two weeks since I wrote the last post on here. It’s been kind of a blur. Something really life-changing took place last week and created a positive shift in my life. I’ll be sharing more about the experience in the coming weeks, but one thing I’ve learned is to take some time to the first process. That’s exactly what I did yesterday. I took a few hours and went a few miles to clear my head and combat the stress I was feeling. Stress is stress even if it’s positive. When big things in life hit, give yourself a little breathing room. It’s okay. You don’t have to have all the answers. You’ll be able to work things out, but for now just process. I loaded up my backpack with water and snacks, grabbed my boots, and set off with my Mojo coffee in hand for an afternoon of getting lost in nature. It was so healing! Every time I do this, I come back as a better human being.

Let’s be honest, we wear these babies more often than we’d like to admit. Everyone has their go-to style. I personally love a good pair of blush-colored sneakers. In the past I’ve worn this retro pair, these and these I really want! Although I’m not huge on the sneaker trend, I will tell you I wear them often since I work out every day. Fall Sunset Walks

A long walk is just what I need at the end of stressful days. I believe walks at sunset are one of the easiest and quickest ways to connect with your inner self and admire the beauty of the world we live in. After hours of being connected to my phone and computer - getting the chance to disconnect from techonology and reconnnect with nature helps soothe anxiety. Fall is my favorite season for sunset walks. The air is crisper, the breeze is cooler and the earth lights up with strands of gold grass and leaves. It’s truly a magical season and evening walks light up my soul.

Meet My New Personal Trainer

Back in June, I realized I was getting bored with my workout routine. Every few months I try to switch things up or I find that I don’t push myself to workout daily. My go-to is to walk or run but I felt like in the heat of Texas summer that was even a stretch to do. Just about that time my friend Courtney reached out and offered for me to try her workout program. I told her immediately I was down! At this point, I could benefit from accountability and a new routine. I’ve been going through the workouts the past five weeks and not only have I seen muscle tone, I’ve also noticed my strength improved! Fitness is a Mindset

I’m sure you’ve heard this phrase before but MINDSET IS EVERYTHING. Whether you think you can or can’t, you are right. I wish I could tell my younger self this. The mind is so powerful and when you are on a fitness journey it will take a mental push to hit your goals. A few months ago I began running. For the first time in my life at age 35 I decided to start and just work my way up to 30 minutes. Each day I showed up and just did it. I pushed myself a little harder and a little harder by adding a minute or two on. Before I knew it I was at two and three miles. A month later I decided to begin training for a 10k.

I thought it was appropriate for us to have a quick discussion about health and fitness before diving into the high calorie season. You don’t have to stick to a strict diet all season. You don’t have to jump onto a crazy workout regimen. You can actually enjoy the holidays, move your body and keep the weight off with simple strategies.
